Geology of New Hampshire . Report comprising the results of explorations ordered by the legislature. Written by C. H. Hitchcock, State Geologist. Assistants were JH. Huntington, Warren Upland, and G. W. Hawes This was an estate find from Hillsboro, New Hampshire. Extremely rare. 1874, 1877, 1878. 3 volume set . Each word designed together to be part of the set. The gold leaf is brilliant on the spines and cover boards. The spine appears to be leather and the cover also appears to be leather. The spine is black with gold lettering. The front board has some black and brown leather and then black corners. The spines are tight. The corners are somewhat bumped, but nothing too crazy for books of this age and weight. All the pages are intact. The images are fascinating. Some are black-and-white and some color. Particularly with some of the maps. The original tissues on the cover information are all intact. No bleeding from what I can find. Volume III has some old repair tape to the front board but seems solid. These were library books from the Rochester, New Hampshire, Public library and gift from the state of New Hampshire. See the plates on the back of the front cover board. Given the age, I would call these in very good condition. I also believe these books are very rare. Those printed would remain in the libraries or now are part of private collections. I only saw one set for sale and they were in pretty rough shape. All of the photos, maps, illustrations and color plates are intact! An intensive survey and study of geology in New Hampshire, examining each region, unique geological features and the mineralogy of the areas. The books span multiple years. Each book will be individually wrapped and carefully packed. I will pay for the insurance. Please ask questions.
