The Spectator Volume IV only (from a six volume set) Printed in 1822 by George Woodfall, Angel-Court, Skinner-Street, London This is an 1822 printing of THE SPECTATOR , the famous London daily publication of 1711, 1712, and 1714. The founders and main writers of THE SPECTATOR were Joseph Addison (1672-1719) and Richard Steele (1672-1729). This is a hardback book with leather spine and corners, 8 3/4" by 5 1/2", 538 pages. The cover and the endpages have a marbleized design, as do the edges of the pages. PLEASE NOTE: the front cover is detached. There is a 1" piece missing from the top of the spine. The edges of the corners are exposed. The back cover is somewhat loose, though still firmly attached. The pages are very nice, with no foxing and only light browning. The pages are uncreased, and t he edges are sharp . There is no handwriting or other markings. Aside from the defects noted above, t he book is in basically good condition: straight, flat, sturdy, still retaining some eye appeal, with some general wear. As a member of the Melbourne Savage Club to receive this fragment signed by one of the original London Savage Club founders is the thrill that trolling through eBay can bring. The thrill was capped off when dealing with such a pleasant vendor. All in all a great experience for me

There was a small issue with the way the item was shipped, but the seller made it right by apologizing and will take my advise under consideration to ship documents in the future flat, if possible. He handled the situation calmly and professionally, thank you.
