RARE original Wuerth SR2 Surgistor for tube amplifiers. 50 ohm @ 400 watts. These were standard issue on some Eico amplifiers such as the HF86 but can be used on any tube amplifier even those expensive vintage guitar amplifiers. Simplify install it on any existing screw/nut inside your chassis and wire it in series with your power cord (see it circled in the photo of the Eico 87 schematic). This install can be completely undone without a trace if you decide to remove it later and take it with you to your next amplifier. No more momentary loud hum at startup from the current surge to those expensive output tubes. Doubles or triples the life of your power tubes and makes start ups much easier on your power transformer. Even if your amplifier is working perfectly those hard start-ups are what kills your tubes more than anything else. This was definitely a genius idea for its time. The only drawback to it is you need to allow an additional 30 seconds or so for your amplifier to be completely warmed up and ready to go…a very small price to pay for the peace of mind knowing you’re protecting your $300-$400 pair of vintage output tubes.
