DESCRIPTION Lives of the Italian Poets by the Rev. Henry Stebbing comes in a 3 volume set: volume I, volume II, and volume III. What makes this set rare is that the bookplates on each volume indicate this set was owned by Anita de Braganza, an American socialite and heiress that married Prince Miguel, Duke of Viseu, grandson of King Miguel I of Portugal. This book is further confirmed to be Princess Anita De Braganza’s book with her father’s, William Rhinelander Stewart’s, Sr., bookplates found on each volume. In addition, William Rhinelander Stewart’s name is handwritten on each volume on the top of each volume’s front end page. Location: London, England Author: Rev. There is no writing in the text block, except for what seems to be William Rhinelander Stewart’s, Sr. writing and other minimal writing on the blank end pages in the front and some in the back end pages. All pages are intact. First few pages on each volume are slightly coming loose. Thread binding can be seen in the first few pages in each volume. Pages are age-toned. The front cover and back covers are in good, sturdy condition. The spine and the edges of the covers are cracking and peeling off. Princess Anita De Braganza’s bookplate is found on the first front page. William Rhinelander Stewart’s, Sr. bookplate is found on the front pastedown.
