Three antique hardcovers, Trevelyan’s Garibaldi trilogy, all from the same private collection, all with the same private book plate on the inside cover. Two of the books were bound in the same style, with raised bands and 3/4 leather, and the other is done in a red vinyl covering though with gilt details on the spine. Garibaldi’s Defense of the Roman Republic: 3/4 leather, marbled end papers, owner inscription dated 1913, this being a January 1912 new edition. Binding in hinges are absolutely tight. Some fold out maps in the rear of the book are in very good condition. Ribbon book marker is excellent. Pages are generally extremely clean, little to no foxing. Again, the binding is outstandingly tight, this is a nice fine binding, raised bands, and guilt lettering on the spine. On the cover, there is a faint remnant of what looks like the number 10 in black marker. Garibaldi and the Thousand: 3/4 leather, marbled and papers, some ownership marks, but the text is completely free of Mark’s otherwise. Many maps in the back are in good to very good condition. One of the maps is slightly misaligned and the bottom edge sticks out a bit from the bottom of the text block. This is a 1948 printing. As with the first book, this one also has an exceedingly tight binding and nice red ribbon book marker. Little to no foxing. As with the first book, this one has a number written on the cover as well, and it looks to be in faint marker. This may be removable. Garibaldi and the Making of Italy: red vinyl boards, this is a 1911 printing. Tissue guard intact, some ownership marks from 1911 on the half title page . Foxing on the half title page and front end papers and lightly present here and there in the text. This book also has some fold out maps which are in good shape. Binding on this book is also nice and tight. These books are not moldy and not musty. They came from a private collection and being that they are in all red, they match enough to look good on the shelf. Please feel free to message with any questions.
