Parts I and II, each being complete in two volumes and published in 1779 and 1784 respectively. Full polished calf with red leather title band on spine. Slightly raised spine bands. Covers show a few scuffs and light wear, though remain very attractive and in overall very good condition. Book plate on front paste downs, and inked name on front end leaves. First few leaves of Part II, Vol. I show fold creases to corners. All four volumes remain tight and are generally very clean. This is not Gibbon’s Rome. The bindings are original.
