Up for sale is a set of two half leather bound books titled "Four Years In The Pacific in her Majesty's Ship Collingwood from 1844-1848" by Fred Walpole. Published by Richard Bentley, 1849, London, first edition. The books have their original tan leather spines and corners, with paper covered boards, red leather title plates with gilt lettering and gilt rule and decorations to the spines. There are silk book marks in both volumes. There are frontis plate illustrations in each volume and some smaller illustrations throughout the books. Volume 1 has 432 pages and volume 2 has 415 pages. The books are 5 1/2" by 8 3/4" in size. The two books are complete and in near fine condition, with some light scuffing rub wear to the leather spines and corners. There is foxing to the frontis plates and to the title pages. The pages of text have no foxing and are in very clean and attractive condition. The inner front hinge on both volumes is partially cracked. Binding is firm. Both volumes will come within a mylar protective sleeve. Buyer to pay $8.00 for shipping.
