Description
The Works of George Eliot: the compete novels. An antique set from the late-1800's, eight books in seven gorgeous 1/2 leather-bound volumes with gold leaf on the page tops. Printed in England by Blackwood & Sons. Title pages say "new edition" with no print date, except for Middlemarch which says 1875. Middlemarch is also the only one which includes a list of the titles in the series, for some reason. One book is visually not like the others: 'Scenes of Clerical Life & Silas Marner', vol 3-4, is from a slightly different edition. The leather is brown rather than red, and the boards and endpapers are marbled. All seven volumes are in good condition, tightly bound with no cracking, no odor, no writing inside. A very handsome set. The 7 volumes in order are: Adam Bede The Mill on the Floss Scenes of Clerical Life & Silas Marner (2 bound in one volume) Felix Holt Romola Middlemarch Daniel Deronda Please see all photos. Serious offers will be considered!
