Ibought a large number of quality leather antique books at an auctionin NJ that clear estates from Manhattan. I've been lucky enough tofind some amazing pieces and to enjoy them in my Victorian house. AsI just moved to Florida, I find my library is just not large enoughto handle what I have. I will be listing a number of high qualitygroupings. Description: This is a full set of four leather books entitled, “Taine's English Literature.” The books are the History of English Literature authored by H.A. Taine Published by Henry Holt and Company, NY, in 1897 Bound in red leather spine and corners with the remainder marbleized paper Inside end papers are green marble paper Top of pages are gilded Condition is very good to excellent Condition: Bindings are tight Corners are knocked I note some pencil marks in the book There is a penned name and date in Volume 1 front cover Volume II has missing pages, skipping from 38 to 65 There is some foxing, although not heavy given the early publication date. Picture 8 shows discoloration where a piece of note paper was located. Iam an amateur collector. As such, I certainly welcome any questions you may have. These days it can be difficult to find people who care about quality and going the extra mile. Jean really went out of her way to provide stellar service. After the purchase she messaged me with photos showing that she found a chip in one of the saucers.
