You are bidding on a rare set of antique hardcover books titled Anecdotes of Painting in England - With Some Account of the Principal Artists. By Horace Walpole. With Additions by the Rev. James Dallaway, and Vertue's Catalogue of Engravers Who Have Been Born or Resided in England. A New Edition, Revised, with Additional Notes, by Ralph N. Wornum. Published in London by Bickers and Son, Leicester Square. There is no publishing date, but I estimate around 1870. The set is complete in three volumes and you are bidding on all three volumes. It is an all-matching set. Has illustrations. The books are quarter-bound in brown leather with leather tips. The spines have five raised bands. The binding shows some wear and remain in good condition. Covers are firmly attached with a slight partial split to front cover of Volume I and cloth tape repair to inside of hinge. All pages are tightly bound. Many pages in Volume I have a stain at bottom of pages but text is barely affected. A few pages in Volumes II and II have small stain at bottom of pages, not anywhere near any text. No writing in books and no signs of previous ownership.
