Collated, complete. The Prose Works of Charles Lamb, complete in three volumes (1838). Prior owner's ink inscription to the front free endpaper from 1879 to Volume I. Final Memorials of Charles Lamb; Consisting Chiefly of his Letters Not Before Published, with Sketches of some of his Companions, by Thomas Noon Talfourd, complete in two volumes. A lovely rebound set of the works and correspondence of the English poet and essayist. CONDITION Rebound in Sotheran Sackville signed half morocco bindings and marbled boards. Externally, smart. There is some rubbing to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. The joints are slightly cracked. The hinges are strained but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front free endpaper from 1879 to Volume I of 'Prose Works'. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot. Overall Condition: Very Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
