1814 2 Vol Set; La Fontaine's Tales, Fables; Fine Bindings, Gilt Leather La Fontaine's Tales by Jean de le Fontaine privately printed, London Jean de La Fontaine collected fables from a wide variety of sources, both Western and Eastern, and adapted them into French free verse. They were issued under the general title of Fables in several volumes from 1668 to 1694 and are considered classics of French literature. Humorous, nuanced and ironical, they were originally aimed at adults but then entered the educational system and were required learning for school children. Hardcover in Excellent Condition: No loose or missing pages, no water damage. No highlighting or underlining. Cover has minor surface wear. Numbers written on top corner of first page. A few pages have minor foxing. Gilt intact on top page edges. Books look very presentable. Printer unknown. 460 pages total, 1814, 8x5" k-h-6408 red

Very fast shipping everything was perfect. Packaging was secure so nothing was damaged. It was how the pictures described it. For a rare book the price wasn’t bad. Now I have the set after hunting for this book for over 15 years.
