Vols. 1-4: The Rambler Vols. 5 & 6: The Idler Vols. 7 & 8: Citizens of the World Vol. 9: Essays Vols. 10-17: Spectator Vols. 18-21: The Adventurer Vols. 22-25: The Tatler Vols. 26-29: The Connoisseur Vols. 30 & 31:The Mirror Vols. 32-35: The World Vols. 36-38: The Guardian In fair condition. Full leather boards normally scuffed at edges and worn/bumped at corners. Heads and tails of spines LACKING; title label on book 37 LACKING. Gilt lettering and deco normally soiled, but all legible. Some hinges cracked, all rubbed. Edges of text-blocks speckled blue, top edges soiled. Marbled front paste-downs exhibit previous ownership bookplates: "Turnbull." Old-hand ownership signatures on most frontispieces (recto) or end-pages: "Mary Turnbull". Most front fly-leaves are detached from bindings. Light age-staining around plates (mostly frontispieces). Normal off-setting on tissue guards. Toning and sparse age-staining throughout text-blocks. Bindings remain intact, but some hinges are cracked. The shipping was fast and the book was extremely well packaged. The book itself is exactly as pictured and although rare books are expected to be expensive, I was able to get a small discount that at least covered the shipping. I'm happy with my purchase, so I can say that it was a good value. I love to find old relics that kind of come full circle to find their home. Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish
